Has anyone tried one of these?
http://www.callahamguitars.com/partsstr.htm#arm near the bottom of the page.

I am getting ready to order their MIM trem replacement and saw this listed also. It looks good, but is it needed.
Thanks

You mentioned the mim tremelo replacement. I'm guessing the Callaham is one big chunk of change, huh?

I looked pretty seriously at the Callaham stuff. Also looking at the GFS tremelo. Check it out. People who have used it speak well of it.

I've never had a problem with regular foil shielding, so it had not occured to me to try that. It is thin, but it is still going to add a modest distance between the body and the pickguard. I wonder if that would show enough to matter. If it comes right flush to the edge of the pickguard then you might get a white-black-white-aluminum look, which would be odd.

On the other hand, if you had a solid aluminum pickguard (no plastic on top - not what this item is about) then presumably the electronics would remain grounded if your picking hand was touching the guard, so you could take your fretting hand off the strings without hum. Slightly interesting - but hardly essential!

In short, I'm not sure you need this, but we'll be interested to hear how it works out if you go for it.

Cheers - C

Thanks for the input guys.
I am going with the Callaham trem because I only want to do this once. I have heard the good and the bad about GFS trems, but I think the Callaham trem wins hands down.
The shield is only $15, it would cost me that much for a roll of tape, so why not try it.
I hope to them order in the next few days. I will post pic and a review after they are installed.

I got the Callaham tremolo block for an American Stratocaster. The improvement was noticeable but not drastic.
