WHAT A JIB.
hey joe and purple haze weren't even on the original press of are you experienced. They were only released on singles and on the hendrix in the west and smash hits albums. Whether they appeared on the u.s are you experienced is a different matter, it was released much later than the english pressing.

Interesting. One thing they fail to mention is the effectively reversed bridge pickup which gives more treble bite on the lower strings.

My biggest problem with the Tele mention is, unless things were highly processed, both between the guitar and amp then during post production, there's really no way to get rid of the twang that the Tele's known for. Even in the middle switching position, there's no guarantee it won't twang a bit. It's what I love about the Telecaster. The non-Fender Tele and Strat guitars that I own either have good twangy tone, or can quack like a Strat.

purple haze does have a similar twang to it if you listen behind the octave fuzz. It could just be the fuzz adding the twanginess though.

I believe I have done more research on that "myth" than the author of those articles:

A previous Thread

No way was Redding's ex-Tele used on Hey Joe and it's use on Purple Haze is doubtful.

A Jimi Hendrix article on the Gibson site makes about as much sense as an Angus Young article on the Fender site.
