Almost two months ago I bought a used American Vintage 62' Reissue Strat and I just realized that the printed "Fender" on the headstock is starting to flake off. Is that normal? I bought the guitar from Guitar Center so they should have caught anything about it possibly being a fake and the stock number on the neck plate checks out. The list price of this guitar, new, is $2,000. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

Like the originals, the decals are on top of the finish on the Vintage Reissues and Time Machines, so they can get damaged easily.

But they shouldn't be flaking off. Complain to your Guitar Center and see if they can repair it (ie, put on a new one).

I posted the solution to this on the matching thread in the Lounge. In short, Fender will supply you with a replacement decal which you can then clearcoat on top to fix it for good.

Check your other thread for more.

Cheers - C
