Apart from one being made in Mexico and the one in California, what are the main differences between these two models?

Rarararararararahhh! You're on Fender website! Go to the products, click the 'specs' box, read.

Other wise you will get some numpty tell you one of them is made from cheese.

I read the specs, but I am more interested in users' opinions. I have heard that MIM necks are very good (argueably even better than US necks).

On the pick ups side, I hear US pick ups a re better, but Fender's website does not give too much info on the difference...

So just really wanted to gauge people's opinion

It's true, the USA necks are made from cheese.

Sorry I can't join in the overall fun here, but I must have missed this whole cheese discussion and I don't have a clue whethere you refer to the MIM or MIA...

Ok, so I think people are skirting around the issue here due to the fact that it's a tricky question to answer!

The USA guitar will be a slightly tastier peice of wood, have closer attention to detail, slightly posher pickups, and will cost more.

Fender bodies are all machined in the USA factory, then all the nicest prettiest, bits of wood become USA guitars and the rest are transported down the road to Mexico where they are made into Mexican guitars!

There is no cheese involved in the manufacture process.

In the Fender world you get what you pay for. I you can afford a USA - buy one!

If you can't afford a USA Fender - buy a mexican one. It's still a great guitar!

Yes, it was quite embarassing to be honest. But then what would you expect from a bunch of shredders??

(sorry -- I could not resist ... )

I do know that the composition of the vast majority of the originals from the 70s are now, aged Fromunda Cheese.
