I was checking out the Yngwie "play loud" strat specs (yet another fender giveaway) and of course it has the scalloped frets. I have never played on them, and i can imagine that you need a lot less strength to make a sound. Who likes this type of fretboard?

I've played several. I'd say that depending on one's style of music or simply one's style of playing, scalloped fingerboards surely have their advantages. Some of the biggest being, it will definitely increase your fingering dexterity, intonation and, your ear.

If I were filthy with money (which I'm SO far from), I'd definitely own one. At the very least, it would be one where the upper frets are scalloped. But alas, this is only a, "pipe dream" for me for the FAR forseeable future.

I don't think I'd be a fan either(don't like the looks) but I can't say as I've never even held one in my hands. I know one thing I don't like that smug look he has on his face in the give away pic. Gods gift to guitars and women look! :?

Honestly, I have been prone to knocking them out of ignorance..since I have never tried one. But I will say none of my personal favorite guitarists ever used a scalloped neck, so that tells me something.

But don't think I wouldn't mind winning that guitar..because for free I would learn to love it.

None of my business but did you sell the item you were trying to sell? I hope things are getting better for you! Good luck friend. :)

Well thank you so much for your concern. Yes I sold it on craigs..and not a moment too soon. Got a decent price for it but it would have gone for double in the UK..but I am not in the UK ,so be it.

Still having trouble finding a job..but a few prospects so not giving up hope. For now we are actually going to form a cover band..just so we can actually get a paying gig..and it should be fun. Hopefully an original project will take off and things will really be good..but for now I am just trying to keep a roof overhead and eat.

Thanks again.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. And as long as I still have my Jazz and my Strat ,all can't be too bad. But yeah, the P-bass special is history :(

I'm not a fan, although I've heard others that really sound great using them.

Besides Yngwie, who else uses a scalloped neck?

Ritchie Blackmore uses one and Steve Vai has the last 5 or so frets scalloped on his guitars....

Hmmm. Those are two of my favorite guitar players... Honestly, though, even though I never have played one, I know it is not for me personally...
