after getting my baja tele if found its neck is nothing like my 57hotrods neck though both of them are said to be soft V's. I decided to measure all 3 of my fender guitars with a cloth tailors tape. I measured from edge to edge of the fretboard around the back of the neck. I found some suprising results.
Here they are for anyone who's interested.

57Hotrod soft V shape is 2,5/8's (66mm) at the first fret and 3" (76mm) at the 12th.
My mexican squire series neck said to be a U shape measures the same as the VHR but is narrower across the fretboard.
The baja tele soft V measures 2,7/8's (71mm) at the first fret and 3,1/4 at the 12th.
Severe difference between the two soft V's.

Is that Baja Tele too big for you?

Are you going to break out the sandpaper?

A lot goes into the dimension of a neck . The shape ( C, V, U ect. ) and the radius of the fret board ( 7.25, 9.50, 12.0 ) If you are comparing two necks are they both 21 or 22 fret, the same radius and soft V's ?

Yeah, you really need some calipers to go along with that tape to measure your neck's dimensions.

The curve of the radius changes the distance coverd to go from point to point along the curve even though the two points are the same distance straight across in width
