Nice to know that someone besides me names guitars.

Many people give names to their guitars...and in my opinion that's completely normal and it's something that everyone should do.
Guitars deserve to be treated with care and a name is a good demonstation of that, plus, they deserve a name that gives them character, which is very important to each instrument.

Keep naming!

Cheers

With respect to guitars, my suggestion is that you all name your guitars
"THE LAST ONE". That will settle another set of issues. I trust you will all understand, without further explanation. :P

I have 13 guitars but only the oldest two have names. My black '86 MIJ Strat is "Black No. 1", admittedly not the most inventive name. The other is a '92 Mexican Strat in Chrome Red I call "Rojo", the Spanish word for red. Get it?

I am in the middle of thinking this one over.

Immediately I was attracted by the Midnight Wine finish with, what I felt, was a complementing Rosewood fretboard. On a lazy end, I want to just stick with Wine but that's too lame...

I have an ex who still means the world to me. She has a unique name as it is, and if I name my strat after her, it makes sense. My problem here is people will just as easily confuse the name for Sadie... which can work too I guess...

I can just give it my ex's nickname, "Kibby", which might be winning at the moment. I think too much and look into symbolism a lot which is why I think so much about my ex. Dark red is sexy, she was drop dead gorgeous, and even the word "wine" makes me think of her because it is also the name of a caribbean dance she does so well.

I have always had sort of a "close" relationship with my guitars and have always named them.

My current, and at my age, most likely the one I will have "forever" is my American Deluxe.

I have, on my daughter's recommendation, named her "Honey"

Her she is .... (She is very vain)

First time I played on one was at GC, too. I sorta fell in love with it, and finally found one at a great deal. It plays like a dream ... sort of like having sex with a super bikini model ... LOL

This is Jeanne. I chose the name 'cause it sounded cool. Plus this axe is quite slender looking with a strange bit of...attitude to it, plus it sounds like the perfect Strat to me. :D

Image

And this is Thunder (1961 Gibson Melody Maker). Named after its P-90 which gets a fair bit of bass and has good mid and treble- yes, it has it all except its super-sensitive to gain...that's why I call the pickup "Lightning" for the noise from extreme feedback it gets.

But I swear, if the Melody Maker got damaged beyond repair, I'd keep the pickup, it sounds THAT good.
