Anyone that's free, that Fender will let me win in one of it's contests. (I'm not fussy).

Many of us love the look of wood grain.... others prefer 'painted ladies' & the rest just go nuts with "gaudy".... 'eye of the beholder' I guess. Point is, when you hear your favorite guitar tune, does it matter what the axe it's played on looks like? If it doesn't play like butter & sound fantastic, how it L@@Ks isn't going to help one 'dog-goned' bit. :?

Adornment of a clear-coat to paints to inlays and stickers..... THAT serves only the owner's ego...... plain & simple. Be proud of your beautiful axe, the same as you would your own Mom, Sister, Wife (GF) or Daughter. It doesn't matter if others deem your axe as plain, or even gaudy or ugly....... only YOUR pride matters....... it's the only opinion that really counts.

Personally, I've never cared much for greens & blues on a guitar. Gold or Silver flake seems a bit gaudy and 'cheesy' to me. (Like a 'ho' in a lamay dress I suppose.) Wood grains and Sunbursts are my favorite, kinda like a nice piece of furniture. Colors just don't have 'character' IMHO..... but then I've heard that 'B' bodies are the ones that get a paint job & I want an 'A'.

Not long ago, a home near me was purchased by some money-grubbing egotist that wanted to rent it out for far more than his new mortgage. In his 'fix', he went in and had all the gorgeous oak wood-work painted a putrid ch*t-brindle brown...... made me wanna barf. What a moron-idiot-jerk. His lack of any respect for the original craftsmen makes me sick.

My preferred guitar would probably be a bit like this...an American HSS Strat with 2 P-90 pickups (soapbars or not, or maybe just 3 soapbars), a Gibson 490T in the bridge, chrome hardware (with stainless steel bridge!), Grover locking tuners, hardtail Strat bridge, and a black or brown sunburst nitro finish with the "glossy" fingerboard like on the American Strats. Oh, and to top it off, a maple neck with a maple fingerboard and 70's style headstock!
:D

it must be a Fender Stratocaster
with C shape 21 frets large headstock neck
( such as the '66 Strat)
must have a bridge Fender humbucker
paired with single coil options in other position
must have 6 screw vintage tremolo bridge
if possible, the nickname of my guitar (Pride)
written in the font like "original custom body" font
on the headstock

Now this is something i've considered deeply and have come to this conclusion. My requirements are

Select alder body
hotrod red paint with a polyurethane finish.
Quatersawn maple 57hotrod 21fret neck with abalone inlays, high gloss polyurethane finish, 7.25- 14" radius fingerboard.
Vintage tuners and trem
now heres the hard bit

dimarzio tonezone bridge pickup and scn mid and neck
S1 switching, clapton boost with a bypass switch. a coiltap on the tonezone. A neckpickup 'on' switch too. All hidden no extra switches to be added.

maybe they could put the coiltap on the midboost control and the neck on switch on the tone pot.

Here's 2 questions: 1 about what some prefer & 1 about a custom feature;

1) Why would anyone want only 21 frets when 22 are available?

2) I have seen a Fender Strat with a headstock that matches the pickguard! White Pearloid I do believe.... what's up with THAT?

thats always been my way mate. A minimum of effects 1 if any and control it all from the guitar. Looks great at shared stages too when you just plug in and have it all happen whilst the other blokes fiddling with his gear teying to get it to sound right. You just dont spill the beans about the secret. :D

[quote="davej02"]What would it have?

Had one teambuilt about four years ago. You'll find it described several times in my 1411 posts. It was great guitar but fell a tad short of my expectations. Just traded it for a Gilmour.

If you haven't seen alainlafrances' collection yet, search the forum for the link.

Be sitting down when you go in there!! 8)

Doc :wink:

I would create the Jagcaster. This would be similar to the Squire Jagmaster in that it would have the body and 24" scale of the Jaguar. But mine would have Strat pickups and controls. I would also like staggered tuners (no string trees), a Graphtech nut, and a Trem King bridge.

The color of my Jagcaster would be Olympic White with a custom-shaped black abalone pickguard and a rosewood fingerboard. 8)
