Hi Guys,

How do i set up my American Vintage Synchronized Tremolo for smoother use, it feels a lil hard at the moment? I have three springs in the back.
Do the six screws have to be a certain height?

Thx

leave the 6 front screws alone, they should be 1 or 2mm off the top of the body and flat on the trem plate. I set mine up the way this bloke says it took some time to do but its realy smooth and gives less tuning trouble than even flush against the body trems i've tried. You need to download realplayer to view it, heres the link

heres the realplayer link, download the free one.

Don't mess with the bridge screws, that can get ugly real fast. Try loosening the trem claw screws alittle bit (making sure not to lossen them too much and making the rear of the trem rise way out of whack).
You can even remove a spring if you want. I know a couple of players who only use two.

True. But if you do remove a spring, I believe you will increase the amount of "float", requiring you to screw in the claw screws to reduce the amount of float to what it was with three springs. Otherwise, the intonation may be off.

Correct?

Yup the intonation will definately change if the "float" changes. It kind of depends on how far down the claw springs are cranked to begin with. I've opened up a few where well meaning but under informed owners have cranked them down to where the claw is flush with the top of the cavity. If that is the case, I doubt that removing a spring will increase the float much.

What is the string and screw spacing for this bridge? If the 6 screws are not screwed straight in the holes they will create friction with the bridge plate and the bridge will not return to its original position.
