Just let her borrow one of your pups! It won't hurt, will it? It's just hands, you know!

what is the young metal goddess's level of playing.
For a beginer axe point her towards a jackson dinky js30 $329 is a steal, i own one for metal stuff and its great, i paid £250 ($500) for mine and its took serious abuse of near townsend proportions.

for anything up to a semipro level of playing jacksons japanese range doesnt dissapoint although you pay more for it. Their certainly on a par with fender american standard guitars. I had a RR3 that was a beauty. Their a fender owned company and their quality control is superb, i've never heard of any problems with em that didnt boil down to preferences.

If she's realy into metal dont get her a strat, she will find it limiting despite pickup configuration. On the other hand, she will outgrow metal one day so get ready to part with yours when it happens :D .

Daughters are a conundrum, you lose and win in every situation as their dad. I've got three, i gave up making decisions 10 years ago.

I've been pretty impressed with the Epiphones for what you get for the money. I recommend them to my guitar students who are into metal and they have been pleased. Stay in tune, decent sounding HB's, and cheap. Just don't get those mini amps that come with the package. The Fender amps are much better.

It's a short-scale (24") guitar with dual humbuckers for about $250. Sounds like a good fit for a girl into the music you described. Do a search on YouTube, and you'll discover this little instrument can really wail. Plus--and not to slam my beloved Stratocaster--it doesn't look like everybody else's guitar.

We did not see one in the store...I'll show her this one and see what she thinks. Thanks

I would get the Fender HSS /w the floyd rose for my son and for me. Otherwise, go for the Squire. By the way, go for the Hello Kitty one....

She's not the "Hello Kitty" type (asked her, she laughed at me). I want the one with the Floyd Rose myself...Money constraints and I can only afford one or the other. B/S if she wants to put one on later, I'll let her pay for that puppy. Again, not sure how she is going to take to playing guitar. I may have myself another guitar in a year or so if she decides not to be too serious. Thanks though.

I find they are cool guitars. I played one at the guitar centre through a Marshall JCM 2000 with a Boss MatalCore pedal and this little girl was staring at me like "what are you doing killing Hello Kitty?"! :P

Thats funny...Like to have been there.

Your absolutely right Ironiguana. The standard of Epi's is tremendous. They raised the bar, squire were a joke before epiphone started producing lespauls in the mid 90's. Now squire's are very giggable, dependable workhorses as are epiphone's.

Showed it to her, she liked it...but already wanted to start modifying it and we don't even own one. She realy likes the Electron Blue Fender HSS. I'm starting to agree with her and I found one for $345 new. Couldn't find any flaws. Hope it's still there in a couple months, if not I'll save some more.

Ironiguana and Nikinija:

I like Gibsons and Epiphones (prefer the Gibson). I showed her both Epi and Gibson (thank goodness she did not hear one) and she still wants HSS Fender. If she develops a passion for playing like I hope, mabe she'll have an Epiphone or a Gibson in her future. She's almost old enough for a job, hopefully she can help pay for that axe when the time comes.

EddieVanHelen:

The last time one of my children touched one of my guitars, they broke the neck. Not that I don't love them, I'd rather them put dings in their own toys. I put enough in mine. Besides I tried to let her play the ESP and she does not like it (the sound that is). And she's not touching my Fender. That's why she's getting her own. :)
