Is it just me or do HWY1s seem to be more rare? I was at GC the other day and they had maybe four (strats, teles, basses) total. I went to another local shop, and they didn't have any either. Craigslist has maybe a couple and Ebay only seems to have necks and bodies.

Any thoughts or word on what's happened?

Stores base their overhead on how a product is moving. If they are carrying less of one model it's probably because they are selling less of them.

I was in a very nice guitar shop today and was talking to the owner: he was saying that of Fender's entire range he sells far more of the Classic Player Strats than anything else. Including Mexican and American Standards.

To me that was surprising news. Still, he had a good selection of Highway Ones as well.

Last time people here were getting worried that the HWY-1 was maybe about to be discontinued a Forum Member contacted Customer Services and was told Fender have no plans to end it - why stop a winner? That's the official line, anyway.

In case that was where this thread was headed...

Cheers - C

I was wondering about that too.
