Sweetwater has some 50s and 60s CS relic strats that are stunning. I would love to own one.
I brought home my LP Standard + just over a year ago, and it has seen some heavy play. It has its share of dings and scratches for a one year old git. My MIA Strat is just under a year old, and has also been banged around plenty. As long as its not on the neck, I can care less.
I accidentally banged the head stock on a high-hat and put a good knick in it under the Fender logo less than a week after I bought it. I named it Scar.

my 89 strat is pretty battered looking , it's took a lot of beatings , mostly from falls ect theres a few patches on the neck where the gloss is coming away and quite a few dings to the body ,and the bit where my arm rests is wearing through as well. i had to replace the scratch plate cos the original white one got a big hole in it one night , now it has a black 3 ply one , to sum up it looks knackered , but hey it's mine :D

My opinion is that the road worn and relic guitars look great but I would never buy them. I rather buy a used guitar with natural wear and tear, unless I was looking for an investment instrument. Currently trying to save some funds to acquire a 78-81 strat, and would prefer minimal wear.

But like others have said, nothing like playing a guitar and wearing down the finish naturally
