What do you mean by sensitivity mate?
Are you getting buzz on those frets or do they sound out of tune?

Theres some very talented builders/repairers that use this site, one of them should point you in the right direction.

sorry i didn't clarify very well they aren't out of tune and they don't buzz. The main time that you notice it is when you play through an amp, when you get above the 15 fret you have to be sooo careful about how you hit the strings because they are so...touchy if you hit them even a little bit hard they get scrachy and winy.and i don't thrash my guitar ethier so i am used to playing soft but this is effecting my tone as well. hope that helps

you need to lower the height of your pickups mate. turn the screws above and below the pickups anticlockwise, i usualy aim for a 5mm gap between the string fretted at the 21st fret and the topmost part of the pickup.

hope this helps

Niki: Good observation. Magnetic string damping would certainly be satisfied by that adjustment, but what about Lace Sensors which can be set without limit, save for the strings fretting out on the covers themselves.

Eric Clapton works mostly above the 12th fret and his tone is dimed even way up on the neck regardless of the electronics in his guitars. There's never been much detail I've been able to find regarding his guitar's setup though he has been quoted, in Duchossoir, for example, about a 1/8'' string height spacing straight down the neck.

Another anecdote, from amp guru Alex Aguilar, in a conversation I had with him about 15 years ago, in reference to Eric's guitar is that he had personally seen the guitar and '' the strings looked like they were set quite hight."

Wonder if the setup on the "Blackie" Tribute guitar was Eric's or generic Fender.

Comments invited.

Doc

Doc,
Lee Dickson spends hours just tuning the 5 guitars Eric uses live. The set up on his guitar must be a very specialist arrangement, particularly with the constant 1/8th action although lee dickson says its a generic fender setup herehttp://www.stratcollector.com/newsdesk/archives/000259.html

I personaly dont believe a lot of what he says in that interview, he comes across as cagey. Also the statement that EC uses whatever fender put in his guitars i dont believe. We know its vintage noiseless or fender lace.

[quote="nikininja"]Doc,

Carrying that thought one step further he was followed during a day by one of the UK guitar mags. I just read an article in a current issue available on this side. He makes that statement outright, with a slight exception to 'finish' i.e. sharp edges. We know from the Christies catalog interviews that he orders his guitar without his signature and, based on Alain's observations, likely a tad more wood off the neck and NO TBX!

They overview his amps and signal chain, and the time spent setting up and sound checking, but nothing much more in detail.

Doc

i pass 'Pacific sound and light' whilst commuting to and from work everyday. They worked on EC's amps during the 80's/90's. I've been considering getting my old marshall serviced there. It may be worth inquiring as to his amp mods. At the time wasn't he using soldano slo 100's?

His website might be a source as to the periodicity of his gear. I would bet someone on the forum has that data.
