Does anyone know with any certainty how many pieces are custom shop (NOS Reissue type) Strat bodies made of? Comparatively, how many pieces are standard american Strats made of?

Thanks for any info.

I am pretty sure about this, but not enough to bet the mortgage...

NOS - 1 piece
Am Std - 3 pc
MIM Std - 5 pc before 2006, 3 pc 2006+

Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong ...

I don't think you can generalize very much as it depends on wood supplies and the particular model. About the only thing you might be certain of is that one piece bodies will only show up on special order Custom Shop models.

Otherwise, Custom Shops are 2 or 3 piece.
MIA can be 2 to 4.
High end MIM have less pieces than the low end MIM models.
The veneered low end MIM bodies can have a LOT of pieces!

Strange. If you look at the Specifications for the Eric Johnson Sig Strat it specifies 2 piece body and it's a production model. I've looked at the online specs for a few Custom Shop models and although it specifies body wood it doesn't specify how many pieces are in the body.

I guess they don't specify the number of pieces on other models, even Custom Shop models, because they can't be sure to always conform to that number.
