Hi Guys,

Ive just given my Fender HH guitar a full setup restrung, truss rod, action, intonation and it will not stop fret buzzing! Im at the end of the road with it i really am...4 hours and have got nowhere.

I set the action to 4/64 recommended by fender, i even set it higher..still buzzes...only when i set it stoopidly high does it stop. Everything has measured three times checked retuned......i just dont know what to do.

Am i missing something? Do HH strats have a different setup???

I dont have a fender dealer anywhere near me.....!!

HELP!!

How bad is the buzz? Can you hear it through the amp?
At what fret does it buzz? Does it buzz open?

Welcome to the forum, I heard Ceri and several other posters talking about a buzz that they could not figure out until they noticed a little gap between the pickguard and the body, near the top of the body, Ceri said he put a small piece of paper in the gap and the buzz stopped. This may not be your problem but worth a check. Make sure it some type of paper that won't hurt the finish. Hope that helps, but could be something else. :?

You may need to tweek the neck a little. If there's not enough concave bow it can cause the strings to buzz.

Tweaked the truss rod to kinda recommended settings..do you think i ought to go a lil more? Is it ok to do so?

I dont mind raisinfg the action a lil either would 5/64 be ok? or will that impact everything else?

Just to add the buzz does not happen with open strings only when fretted...hmmm

Try raising the action at the saddle a little and see if it helps. If so, it wouldn't hurt to double check everything just to be sure. If it doesn't help, try the neck (1/8-1/4 turn counter-clockwise) and again double check everything. If you have to adjust the truss rod, give it a few minutes to change and then see if it helped.

Good Luck

Can you narrow down which fret? the fret may need re-setting, loose or too high. Just a thought.
:?

Hate to say it but you might need to take it to a "good" tech. I know you are not close to one. Good luck my friend!

No! Don't do that , it will get fixed and you'll be in love with it! :)

I know you've probably already done it but check all your screws on everthing , tuners, pg, saddles, etc. just snug them!!

Don't take this question the wrong way, but ... you are tuned to a normal E, right? If you are tuned flat, it could buzz based on how flat you are.

I guess part of the problem is you're not sure where the buzzing is coming from? Which is to say it may or may not be fret buzz?

Generally, if it's fret buzz, it's not real difficult to identify which fret or frets it's buzzing at.

Because you had so many things adjusted, I wonder if the pickup height was changed. If they're too high, when you fret the strings, they'll be too close to the pole pieces and get "grabbed" by the magnetic field. Makes for a nasty buzz. This would occur whether the guitar is plugged in or not.

Troubleshoot it by lowing the pickups. A lot. Then see if it buzzes. Obviously, if the buzz is gone, you've found the problem. Then either raise the pickups to Fender specs, or simply raise them gradually until you begin to get the buzz...then lower them a little.
