Well, I just thought I was getting myself into something less expensive than what I have been collecting lately.

its all good. the way i look at it and one of the reasons i bought my strat, is because money disappears real fast these days....into gas tanks, crap food, electric bills, wives, kid, credit cards...i can go on and on....i have been WORKING my $@! off and really had nothing to show for it(besides a happy family)...and now i actually have something tangible, something i can hold in my hand a "trophy" of sorts...we are men, and men are still boys deep inside, and boys need toys.

Yea, like the old addage says...."He who dies with the most toys....wins"

I look at it like "He who collects the toys has the most fun!!!!"

UGH there is a GAS shortage :?:
I suddenly think I need more gear! :!:
Maybe a stereo chorus and another amp. :!:
Huh why did the wife suddenly lock the door to the room I am in :?:
:D :D::D :D

Fortunately for things like a tuner you usually only need to get it once.
Strings are a consumable and need to be changed fairly often depending on how much you use them.

For setup I'd rather let a qualified Luther look at the axe once a year or so,
not very expensive and they hopefully know what they are doing more than I.

Learning to work on your own rig... priceless

It can be daunting but you will never learn unless you try. I'm so addicted I got a part time job at a local music shop. The owner and a great luthier himself helped me put in my first set of noiseless pups patted me on the back and said you're hooked now.

Guitars are like buying art work that you can use and not just look at.

just got all the stuff needed to do my set up:

1. strings $12.50(2 sets)

2.Capo $25

3.feeler gauges, 6 inch technical ruler, $16

4. korg chromatic tuner 35

thats $90 bucks right there, could of got a pro to set it up twice for that!! geeeze.

For $90 bucks I'll set up your guitar. If for some strange chance I don't feel like setting up my guitar, I take it to the guitar store (authorized Fender Techs mind you) and have them do it for $35 to $45 + price of strings depending on the guy there. You are right...it is an expensive hobby! Have you seen the Fender work station? It is a pad with a place to lay your neck so the guitar is not lying flat. Accordind to Fender it is at the proper angle to work on your guitar. Keep playing.

[quote="supertrucker"] That's AlainLaFrance. He pursues his interests at his level of opportunity but that doesn't mean that he gets more satisfaction out of his one of a kind Clapton than someone else with a Sienna Burst MIA Deluxe.

Doc
