anyone know if you can put the circuitry from the clapton strat into the new standard strat without any major mods, like routing or anything?

Welcome to the forum my friend! I don't know but I think there are several ways to do it. The "Man" on this forum who knows all the ins and outs of the Clapton guitars is ZZDOC! He will be able to tell you all you need to know! :) 8)

ZZ DOC is the guy you want but, The board that has the circutry is decent sized. May require a little bit of routing to make it fit.

I believe The Ninja has done that mod, too. He's very hands on and will be able to talk you through it if ZZDoc is busy in theater.

Then the Doc can tell you about the aesthetic reasoning behind the exercise...

Cheers - C

Hahaha! It has been four hours so far, and Inspector25 has collected seven (now eight) posts advising him of whom it might be who finally gives him the answer to his question! It's a little hard on a new member - welcome to the Forum!

Wait patiently and your question will be answered. In the meantime, go buy some chisels...

:D - C

heres how i did it.
http://www.areyouexperienced.net/fender_clapton_mid_boost_kit.htm

ignore the kill switch and battery in the control cavity idea's, they are needless. Its far more practical to have the battery in the trem cavity and therefore have no need for a killswitch. cut the positive wire to the battery terminal at the terminal end you can get the positive wire from the board through the hole the earth wire goes through to the trem. From the trem cavity feed the negative wire from the battery terminal through the hole into the control cavity then into the jacksocket cavity and re-solder the positive wire back onto the battery terminal.

You have to block your trem and remove a spring or two to get the battery in snug. Its not hard if you take it a step at a time.

Make sure the tbx tone control is at the bottom of your controls, or do as i did and ditch it. I prefered a regular tone control.
The strat i put it in has minimal routing and i didnt need to do any to get the mod in. :D
