Thank you. It plays wonderfully too...even though it is on the cusp of requiring a refret.

I've written at length elsewhere about a DG-20 I installed in a '97 American Standard Ash.

As an aside, that's the same headstock Rudy Pensa uses in his guitars. In the Custom Shop forum there's a thread about costing out a CS order. One of the respondents was holding forth about how much he saved, and how satisfied with the guitar Warmoth built for him.

Have any of you every considered that builders are actually buying parts from Warmoth, putting their own stamp on them, and charging you more.:? Pensa commands a handsome price for his "custom" gear, particularly the MK series.

I realize that it only requires 9 volts but more just wondering if you ever tried the 18 volt mod. I would do it to the red one pictured if there was the room for the extra battery but she's tight.

I have done the 18 volt mod on a number of other EMG equipped guitars though. LTD Vipers and EC400. Awesome inexpensive mod.

Well, I can't say that there is actually more output specifically but there may be a perceived increase in output because there is no clipping under agresive playing. The EMGs automatically recognize the increased voltage and don't have to be altered in any way. There is more headroom so that there is more clarity, less mud and still the same heavy output...I can see how that could be interpreted as more punch and more output.

Here is a tutorial I did and posted on another forum with pictures of the process.
http://www.kramerforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26667

I have yet to try it on a 'single coil' sized EMG but based upon the results I have heard by modding the EMG 81 and the EMG 60, I definitely want to give it a try on the single sized ones as well.
