has anyone ever heard of a vintage 60's strat with gold hardware? this friend of my father's says he's got this vintage 60's strat with all gold hardware. i've never heard of gold hardware on a strat from the 60's. i told him i'd have to see it and have the serial number before i'd consider buying it. am i crazy or do i have a cash cow?

Brian

it was an option that goes back to the fifties. look up a Mary Kaye's Stratocaster or Hank Marvin's Stratocaster. Take some pictures and post them.

Good response to your question above. But in addition -- for old gear -- you can never be sure. There were all kinds of "one offs" and "special factory requests" made. Just because it is not in a catalog, one can't assume it is not legit.
