Hey guys

There's a guy on my local classifieds site selling an American Deluxe, maple neck, HSS Strat for a really great price. The only thing is, he says it's got the new Sienna Burst finish. Did the American Deluxe ever come with this finish? I can only seem to find it on the American Standard models. I don't want to go and buy an American Standard by mistake.

He said he'd send me the serial number tonight, would that tell me which model it is?

Welcome to the forum! You will be able to tell the difference by the serial# . Do you know it? It should start with a D if it's a deluxe. Hope that helps! 8)

Cool, thanks :) I'm really hoping it's a deluxe, I've wanted one since I first started playing

I have an American Deluxe. I wanted the Sierra Sunburst in the worse way. However the American Deluxe did not come in that color. So be sure you know what you're buying.

In the first reply Mr Hopkins is being a little coy with you. He actually owns a very beautiful Deluxe, which I'm sure I remember is Sienna Sunburst...?

I have a 2005 Am Series in that color too. I thought I was so unique at the time...

Cheers - C

Makes sense, though, because the Deluxe Tele is definitely Aged Cherry Burst. So Cherry for the Deluxes, Sienna for us mere mortals on Standards. That right?

ok well the guy just sent me the serial number, it's z6128150. I take it that is the American Standard then? The guy says it is a 2006 model. He's selling it for the equivalent of US$980. Do you think it is worth that?

I believe that the Sienna Sunburst color just came out this year. And...It IS bettter to get the American Standard new for just $20 more. They are about $1,000 as previously mentioned.

thanks for the help everyone :) maybe I should actually just buy myself an American Standard, I think it'd be worth it just for the finish. And to maybe help curb my Ibanez addiction :)

The American Standards are great guitars. The only differences between that and an American Deluxe are a few goodies.

Locking Tuners
Pop in Tremolo bar
S-1 Switching for the pickups
And different bridge saddles.
