I believe it's a direct replacement.

So DIY should work for you.

Depends which tuners you have already; where that little screw hole for aligning them is placed (or if there is a small prong on the underside of the tuner instead); and what size hole in the peghead you have - 11/32 or 13/32 of an inch.

If in any doubt, always talk to a tech. It is not an expensive job, unless you need him to invisibly fill unused screw holes for you, and he has the skill to do that job well.

Cheers - C

When he said "my american strat" I assumed he was talking about an American Standard (or older American Series).

Of course, if his American Strat is a Vintage Reissue with Kluson-type tuners, then all bets are off regarding direct replacement.

So I guess the correct answer is a question: what kind of tuners are currently on your guitar?

That's completely reasonable. And most likely a straight swap will fit without any further issue. Always important just to check we're changing like for like, as far as the layout is concerned, though...

That's the bottom line, for sure.

I got a set of Fender Shcller Locking Tuning Machines for my Standard Strat. It was really easy to replace the original machines, and the new ones are so cool.

Should be a direct replacement for the pings. If the Kluson style are on your Strat it will require a little work.
