SSS all the way. Any other combo, and it's not a strat for me. Even with a split humbucker, that bridge and bridge/middle still doesn't sound like a strat to me.

For humbucker tones (which I rarely want anyway), I'll grab another guitar. For 98% or what I like to play and 100% of strat tones, there is no other choice for me than a SSS. But everyone's different.

Having a HSS means that you get the power of a modern rock or metal tone in the bridge but then can switch to having a nice clean bluesy hendrix-y tone with the neck pickup.

I had to vote SSS even though I like my Strat with the Atomic Humbucker and play that one alot.

Yeah, you're totally right. But to me, a powerful guitar for rock or metal isn't a Strat. I have a hard rock/metal guitar that plays that style much better than my strat would.

For me, I'd rather have two guitar that each do their own thing perfectly, than one in-between that do both just "good".

I agree. Three single coils: That's a Strat!

Although I use the bridge pickup so seldom that it really doesn't matter.

I voted HSS. I bought a SSS guitar and I am very satisfied with it. I am slowly starting to like the SSS's but still am looking forward to buying a HSS with Floyd Rose in the near future.

Personally, i think all strats should be sss, if your gonna play really hard rock, you might as well get a gibson.

no hate for hss strats, thats just my opinion

i just dont understrand why people say this. If its built by fender and it says stratocaster on the headstock, ITS A FRIGGIN STRAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they have been built a million different ways....why grab another guitar for humbuck tones? i dont want to play anything but a strat. and hss is a strat!

I voted HSS but actually have it set up with the Hummer tapped so that it can still function as a single coil when you want. :D
