TO me, the strat is the ideal blues instrument and that's MY opinion; maybe you all like teles for this better.

So i was just practicing my chops and i wanted to get to basics. I wanna know what style i was playing, texas or chicago.

I played fast, with really wide bends in between, mostly the blues and major pentatonic scale, and it sounded pretty fast, but still melodic and has the down home blues feel. Some notes were played quickly and quietly, to sound like legato. SOme were striked hard, and bended. I also played the positions up and down the neck, from open e, to the 12th fret. I sort of like the sound. It's really got that earth blues feel.

SO, my good friends, which style is this?

thanks. I think my playing has gotten better. I am now starting to transform this blues into blues rock and early type rock.

From your description, I would edge towards Texas style.

However, listen to Buddy Guy and see if thats were your going.

The Tele is without a doubt a whole other animal, I think every Strat owner should own one to round out there tonal possibilities.

A nice P-90 guitar might be nice too.

Hey Fellow Strat Heads-

I wouldn't worry about which region of Blues you are playing- Play from your heart and you will be in Blues Central-

Big Bends are a little something from Albert King ....Who influences a whole lot of players- Buddy Guy has a lot of quick riff attacks - BB King has the "Flutter" Albert Collins has that Stinging Attack- Its all blues man-

Make it your own and tip your hat to the people who have inspired you along the way-

Thx, you're right, it's all the blues.

What kind of Strat r u playin? i.e. pup config, etc. I like the strat for blues, especially for texas blues/blues rock, but for real albert king/bb king/muddy waters/etc. style blues, a guitar with a HB is gr8. my strat is a HSS config. In my book, the tele sounds good clean for any style of music, and when it's dirty, it's especially good for country. My 2 cents, take it or leave it.

As long as you got the blues from your head down to your shoes...it doesn't matter the blues style. Just ask Buddy Guy :)

Just rock out with what "feels" best. Your unique blues will come out of you.

I like the tone to get a little dirty like the blues breakers, anyone out there own the fender mini tweed amp? It has a neat dirty sound and sounds almost like its gonna fall apart when you krank up the drive.

Hey,
If it sounds good and felt even better, what difference does it make :P Blues comes from the soul and is influenced by what you like, incorporate and what you ultimately can do with it...

Music doesn't require a 'category' to sound or feel right. Play your heart out and if others don't like it, they can play their own blues..... 8)
