modern C is about your best option i think. I'd be more inclined to check the width across the nut though, I've always found that mattering more to me than neck depth. I go for 39 - 41 mm. Old charvel necks pre 85 seem the most common narrow nuts. My palms are average but my fingers are stubby :D

Have you thought about going to a smaller scale. I played a new Fender Mustang today that was pretty friggin' cool ... and cheap, too.

Hello Frusciante_Power,

Mark Knopfler artist model has a
small neck and it's a fine guitar.

Cheers.

Most of the Squiers I have played had small feeling necks.

You'd have thought. Strangely, I have a pair of Nikininja's "regular hands with stubby fingers", yet I find a 25.5 in scale most comfortable. Doesn't make sense, but there you are...

I'd take quoted nut widths with a slight pinch of salt. The real width of that nut will always depend to some extent on who was on the sanding machine that day. None of mine are precisely the size given on this website's specs; not that it matters to me, within a mil or so.

Cheers - C

Your right on quoted widths, fender 42mm tend to be anything from 40-44mm. The only real way to tell is to play it or carry a tape measure around with you. The only reason i know i prefer a certain nut width is because i noticed a similarity in all my guitars. all my guitar nuts seem narrow, so i measured em. The only 42mm one is a jackson that i just dont play barre chords on. Must of always been a deciding factor in my choice's without me realising it.
Nice to know the knopfler strat's neck is thin. I remember watching the alchemy dvd and thinking, 'How can this bloke whos left hand looks like a boxing glove with sausages sticking out of it be such a delicate player?'
Nice to know he hasnt got giganticism of the left hand :D
