Am setting up my strat and the instructions on the website said that different size necks take different measurments from the string to the fret board. So how do I get that measurment? This is a used MIM and I haven't a clue what it is. To clarify I guess I need to know what the radius of the neck is.
Thanks

You can make some radius gauges yourself by drawing sections of circles of different sizes (7.25 inches, 9.5, 10, 12, etc) on card and cutting out carefully. Or you can buy a set of radius gauges: I particularly like the ones known as understring gauges, because you can measure a fingerboard without taking the strings off:

Far as the height of the strings above the frets is concerned, there's two ways to go. Either a set of automotive feeler gauges, available very cheaply online or from a car parts/tools shop. Or you need a steel ruler calibrated in 64ths of an inch, with the calibration running right up to the end of the rule.

Cheers - C
