Hi all i just got a new set of strings for my strat. I actually discovered that my squier did NOT have bullets in them: they were ball end. Wonder what they were. Well, i got a set of d'addario nickel wound strings, and they're pretty nice. ALthough i know i should have bought nickel (pure), these strings sound too bright compared with my original set. But i'll make the best out of it, and these sound great, and compliment my rosewood fretboard well. Definitely need something warmer. But it's good, and i'll have it for the next few months. I really hope they lose their high end brightness over time, and become bassier and more mids.

I just tried what i am sure is d'addario, and it has not let me down!

I just got a custom made set of Aurora's to check out and evaluate. You can mix n match colors or go with complete color schemes to match your guitar. I'll be demo'ing them in a few days.

If you haven't tried them yet, then try out the Elixir 10's on your strat. I've been using them on my MIM strat for a few months now and they have a very similar tone to what you're describing that you're after. They have a nice, thick low end and mid range with screaming highs all at the same time. Actually they're the complete opposite of the Dean Markley Blue Steel 10's that I use on my Jackson Soloist.

All new strings when first put on will always sound bright since there brand new. After a few weeks of playing they'll get more to the mid section.

Hello Miami Mike,

Does that color wear off of those
fancy strings?

Green and Red at Christmas

Cheers.

I've been using Blue Steels since Dean Markley began producing them. I remember colored strings from the mid nineties, they were rubber coated and sounded like crap.

I bet they powder coat these new ones so they sound better and last longer.

colored string though?? really?? who uses those?

Seriously :?

I prefer Blue Steels too. My Fender came with Super Bullets. Been trying to keep the guitar orginal but getting tired of changing strings every 2 weeks. I'm going back to Blue Steels.

Elixir 10s...... I put these on all my guitars.
A little bit pricey, but they sound good and brite when you put them on and they stay that way for 3-4X as long as the D'addarios, or the Fender Bullets, etc......
That nanoweb coating makes the strings easy on your fingers (probably less fret wear also) and they sound fantastic and don't get corroded from sweaty hands like mine...

I usually wait until the go on sale for 2 for 1 and stock up.
