Ive had my strat (1960's replica mexican) for around a year and a half now...and it has been great, love it, i decided (on recomendation from a friend) to try some bullets, as soon as these were put on my bar keeps putting my guiitar out of tune, even if i just turn it and dont depress or lift it...ive gone back to standard (super 250's) for my guitar, on the correct scale, and it keeps happening, ive tried evenrything, and yet it still stays out of tune, and i have to re-tune it, and i loved it for its sycro tremolo that always stayed in tune no matter how crazily i used it....any idea..? would be greatly apriciated

Brand new strings will go continually out of tune, especially on s Strat trem, until properly stretched.

How long did you leave the new set on before replacing them with another new set?

What gauge strings are you using? They may be binding in the nut- meaning you need to shave the grooves a tad. If it's more than one string, I bet that's it.

If not, and it's a single string, pull up a chair and learn from my mistakes...

My mid80s Am strat had huge problems with the g string. Just as you describe, if the wind would shift, the string would go out of tune. Many months and $$ were spent in having pros troubleshoot the bridge, had the nut reslotted, tried every lube trick on the market and ultimately replaced the nut - all to no avail. Every "expert" I talked to was stumped.

Just as I was ready to sell the guitar (which plays like butter, thus causing me tremendous anguish), my wife (who doesn't even play) said one night, "What about those thingys touching the strings? Could they be your problem?" She was referring to the string trees. Upon inspection they appeared to be perfect. They had been looked at previously and I thought, "Silly girl, of course we looked at those!" Then again I figured for a couple dollars and two small screws, why not replace them? This would help me justify purchasing a new Strat.

Much to my amazement, THAT WAS IT!!! Looking into it afterward, there was a nearly microscopic burr on the underside of the tree. Nearly imperceptible, but just enough to bind the string.

The only thing that keeps me feeling like a complete doofus is the fact that three different luthiers never caught it either.

Stretch your strings right after replacing them to the point that the don't detune even if you pull'm hard. I use D'Addario strings and I have no problems unless I go wild on the whammy bar.
If your strings keep going uot of tune you could consider Graph Tech saddle bars.
Phoowee on you! :!: Three months old strings will allways be out of tune.

It's gotta be the gauge of the string binding in the nut or the bridge saddles.

You could try 9's on it and see if the problem still occurs. If so, it's most likely the saddles.
