I have the midnight wine. It kind of depends on the light, but the color is somewhere between a dark brick red with indoor lighting to a plum in sunlight. That's probably why all of the pictures look different.

Have you checked #75 on the color chart? http://www.fender.com/resources/colors/

I have a Midnight Wine MIM Strat (2000) it can be best described as....A nice Late 90's California Merlot poured in crystal ....served at sunset.

Its actually a really nice color and I get lots of complements on it. Its something a little different then most of the Strats out there.

It's a nice color ... I call it a deep burgandy.

I'd call it sexy.

I've got a 2000 MIM as well. It's got a rosewood board and a pearl pickgaurd.

There is a little hint of gold in mine.

I experienced the same kinda thing when looking at the ReD ibanez Satch guitar (js1200).
It looks pink online... The images I found on ebay of used ones were way
more acurate looking images.

The image below I found on ebay, 89 strat plus:

I agree with the description of it being Burgandy in color. :)

its pretty sweet. I have super hot girlfriend that shreds one. She's also a drummer and has a wine kit.
It's the color of a glass of red wine held up to the light.
