Mr. Hopkins,
I have been meaning to ask. As a Katrina transplant, I was wondering what part of Louisiana you were in. I still have a house in Slidell myself and get back there every now and again....

I live in a little town southeast of Baton Rouge called Denham Springs. Do you know where I'm talking about? It's in Livingston Parish La.

So you were close to The Big Easy, I know right where you're talking about. Are you coming home someday, I bet you are about to starve to death for some good food. 8)

AS a matter of fact I worked in Baton Rouge at LSU for 30 years. It's hard to beat campus life, if you know what I mean. The little wife is still working out there. Geaux Tigers!! Hope you're not a Tulane fan! Ha! Ha! JK.

I worked at Tulane Hospital for a number of years, but no, I am an LSU fan - and a Saints fan.
I have been to and through Denham Springs a number of times.
I do miss the food - I have dropped almost 40 pounds since moving away....

That's funny. I lost 40lbs when I left Tennessee (used to live in west TN by memphis). Miss the good ol home cookin. Now we are in Los Angeles so broke we live on air and water..lol.

BTW, I frequent the "big easy" at least once a year (was just there last month). Love the food there..well love everything there. My parents recently retired and are considering a rental in new orleans...couldn't make me happier, having a free place to stay when there.

Further scrutiny - and info from Fender consumer relations (what wonderful people!!!) - indicate that the guitar is, in fact, a Highway One. It is still an amazingly beautiful piece of work, and I still feel quite stongly about it.

But they are asking way, way too much for a six year old Highway one....

Good thing you checked it out first.

I am curious since I am not really up on strats newer then 70's models...what is the difference between a standard USA strat and a Hwy one? Is a hwy one made in USA or elsewhere? If made in USA why is it worth less then a standard USA? If not made in USA then the question is answered.

There have been a couple of threads (and a couple of arguments, I gather) on the subject of the relative merits of the two instruments. A highway one is made in the USA. Pricewise, it is somewhat cheaper than an American Standard. I am not the person to detail the construction differences....
