Okay, i have a MIM Strat with a rosewood fretboard, serial number MZ4064899 and the neck is NOT straight. I have some fret buzz, but only at the 15th fret, so i thought i might adjust the truss rod. The action is high as a house too (i like it that way), so it can't be that.

My question is: which way do i turn the truss rod? Clockwise or counterclockwise?
The bow is almost invisible, but if you look closely you can se the neck is slightly "concave"...

Thanks in advance!

/Vic

From what you describe I am not sure a trussrod adjustment is the solution. I suspect your neck may need shimming in the opposite direction to usual, in other words with a shim at the far end of the neck pocket from the bridge, in order to bring the nut end of the neck forward in relation to the heel and saddles. Make sense?

Either that, or you simply have a problem with the fifteenth fret. Not sure how to check for uneven frets? Go see a decent tech, is my suggestion.

...But anyway: clockwise bends the neck backwards, anti-clockwise relaxes the rod and allows the neck to bow forwards under the tension of the strings. Go very gently, a quarter or even an eighth of a turn at a time. If you turn too hard and damage that rod you are in big trouble!

Cheers - C

I'm not sure by reading what you wrote whether your problem may be too much bow or not enough!

The upper reggestry is unlikely to be affected by truss rod adjustments, and it sounds like your action is high enough that it is not causing the problem. It really sounds like a high fret to me.

Yep, i went to a pro today and i'll have my guitar back soon. I normally do all my adjustments myself, but not this time... other than that, it's a good guitar. Thanks for the help.
