Hi everyone,
Bought a 50 ann stratocaster about two or three years ago. I was very happy with it until, my S1 switching system busted. I took i look inside the guitar and everything looked like it was soldered on nicely. When i brought it to a local music shop the guy tod me it i was not the wires, but the S1 switching system itself. I searched high and low for a new S1 system but no luck. All the local stories said "sorry" to me when i showed told them about the issue. So what can i do with this?? Does fender.com offer just the S1 system part? Please help me with this disaster lol! It was a b e a u tiful sounding guitar!
Thanks in Advance :D

That makes me very curious what happened to it...
And also exactly what part or part of the switch went out on you.

Any information you can learn & share I would be interesting to review.

I had a small dead spot on my S-1 switching between the 3 & 4 position on my HSS.
(humbucker & middle pickups together)
It is just a very specific position between postions & ...dead silence, no signal.
I have only experienced it once when switching pickups while actually playing.

When I took it to the store & showed them they kinda seemed like they
were very hopefull not to work on it. They didn't say they wouldn't but
they also weren't inviting me to get it fixed either.

Are most techs out there actually going to tend towards the desire to avoid
servicing our S-1 systems?

An experienced, Fender licensed electronics repairman would not hesitate. If you happen live near central NY state, the best place to go would be E G Electronics in Utica. He's not only the best electronic repairman anywhere around, but he's also a very accomplished guitarist as well. To have the electronics of a guitar fixed by someone who doesn't play the instrument isn't the smartest option. Even having an amp fixed by non-users doesn't mean it will work the way it should. Any electronic repairman may know how to read a schematic and do a good job, but actual service and proper care to your item is another matter. In a way, it would be like taking your car to a guy who fixes boat motors, lawnmowers and kitchen appliances. LOL  That doesn't mean you should take it to just any luthier either. If he's certified in electronic repair as well as knowing the essence of wood, then fine. Otherwise, make sure the electronic tech HAS a valid Fender service certificate and has done S-1 repairs before. (That's my advice.)
