Hey all. I posted in the lounge and now I have pics of my Strat ready to go.
Its a MIM Strat, it was originally an HSS configuration with 2 singles and a humbucker in the bridge position. It had all black pups and a black pickguard.
I dont have any before pics. Anyway... it was supposed to have been made in the 90's sometime. It has mojo, lots of it. Its so broken in and smooth, the neck is like oiled silk. I am a new player but I can spot goodness when I see it. LOL!

Anyway my wife found it at an estate sale for $150, I picked it up and had to have it. It just felt right to me. I tried every Strat in Guitar Center, not ONE felt near as good as mine. The older guy who owned it played it daily for years from what he said. The body is Ash I think. It doesnt look like Alder to me, but Im no expert there. The neck is just so rounded and unreal.

Upgrades. I had a Fender white pickguard put on it, and white knobs. I upgraded the pickups to Fender CS 54 "Fat 50's" pups. They are supposed to be handwound and they sound incredible. In the bridge position you get that twangy, 50's Beach Boys or Ritchie Valens type of sound. But in pos. 4 or 5 it has a very strong and growly sound to it. Almost an SRV type of grunt to it. I have 11's on it for strings, which are heavy and Im new, but I love the sound and feel of them. Im a huge SRV fan as well, and I know Stevie always preferred heavy strings so I did it too. I had a friend who is able to actually play things play it for me through some tube amps after the upgrades.
I have never seen another strat this color either. Its an oddball I guess.

Can anyone tell me when it was made? The serial number is MN4116xx

Ok sorry for the long post LOL! Here she is....

I really like that finish! If I were you, I would take the back plate off to make it more awesome, but that's always a point of contention. Great guitar!

I had one with the same exact finish a few years ago. Mine had a maple fretboard though. I regretfully sold mine about a year ago.

Very nice finish on that guitar. Well worth what you paid for her.

It looks and sounds like you got a real deal there.

Welcome to the Lounge - a really nice place to discuss music, guitars and Fender instruments of course.
