I recently purchased a "brand-new" MIM 60th Anniversary Stratocaster on eBay. As soon as it arrived, I noticed the paint looked a bit uneven around the neck pocket -- kind of "blobby" instead of a clean line between the neck and body. I thought maybe I could sand it smoother. So I removed the strings, unbolted the neck, and CRACK.

When I carefully lifted the neck out, it took a big chunk of Blizzard Pearl paint on the body along with it! There were big blobs of paint on the back and sides of the neck as well. Apparently they bolted the neck on before the paint had fully dried, though how they did that is a mystery, because the back plate wasn't stuck to the paint, and neither was the pickguard or anything else. Just the neck.

But it sure looks like hell now, with ragged flakes of paint missing alongside the neck. That should be an easy fix with some sandpaper and touch-up paint, but for reasons I can't understand, Fender doesn't sell touch up paint. I was just wondering if anyone had run into a similar problem. And any advice on how to make it better? Thanks, Michael :(
