I recently purchased a Strat Highway 1 HSS. It sounds great. My teacher suggested that I reset the bridge. If it is flush with the body, the guitar will sound better. Is that so? The guitar comes with a vintage-style "synchronized" tremolo, and is already about 1/8" above the body. should I try to adjust the bridge, or should I bring it to a dealer? Or, should I leave it alone?

Thanks,

Art G.

Dear Art,
The whole idea about a Statocoster is the floating bridge; that's why it's my main squeeze. Yes, the sustain of the guitar will improve when flush but then again, if you play with a bit of gain (or a lot) you won't notice the difference and your Momma and her next-door neighbour will neither.
A good compressor does the trick as well.
As in all things in life it's a matter of making choices; some are good and some are bad.
If you want to adjust your bridge, ask your teacher  since he seems to know it all.
