I haven't heard that rumor.

I can't imagine a "new" Stratocaster body design. What would they call it? A Stratocaster II?

Didn't CBS Fender to "update" the strat in the early 80's? Like Coke??? And where are we now? Back to the original 54 y/o design.

Would be interesting to see the marketing and acceptance of a replacement, though. Bet the original desing stays in the lineup though.

It would never happen. we guitarists are way too nostalgic and stuck in our ways. If we weren't we'd all own parker guitars. They have everyone beat for quality, sound and versatility.
something in me just refuses to accept em though.

Add me to the "I don't see it happening" group.

The strat is the most successful, most copied body shape ever. Fender sells millions of em every year. All of em simple variations on the same theme. With that kind of customer base, why on earth would they change it? Especially when they own so many other brands to experiment with? No, I don't see the "New Stratocaster" coming out anytime soon.

Yeah. I heard that, too. The new Stratocasters for 2009 are going to a solid mohagoany body with carved maple top, one cut out, and a set neck.

... trawler alert: you fell for it you silly people...

Did the Showmasters have a slighty different shape from the Stratocaster?

If they ever change the shape of the Strat, just think how much all of ours will be worth hehheh. On the other thought, if they change the shape then it wont be a Strat anymore.
