Arrrghh! I seriously regret buying my Strat from dolphinmusic.co.uk but due to the price i had no choice. I placed the order on the 26/08 and they gave me an expected delivery date of the 16th of September, it's now the 24th and they didn't bother letting me know abotu delays but i noticed it wasn't updating on the site so i rang them on monday.

They said they should get stock tuesday. So i ring tuesday , "we are just unpacking all the orders from fender so we can't see if its your yet, call tomorrow". So today i ring, nope not in stock and i get the response "We are expecting an order from Fender an day now". Oh wow thanks for the specifics, I don't mean to be unreasonable and i realise it's not in their hands but their attitude isn't exactly professional.

Please feel free to correct me if i'm wrong anyone?
Also sorry about the rant, i know it won't interest many of you but i have a suspicion that all of you know what it feels like to wait for a guitar!

I so sympathise with that. Anyone in the UK who has bought from the Turnkey empire (our equivalent of GC) knows just what you are talking about. We all used to be familiar with their vast brochures that came with guitar magazines and such - I never found a singe product in one of those tomes that was actually in stock. My two experiences of ordering from them put your story (so far) on the beginner slopes for sheer rage inducing misery.

I felt grimly vindicated when they went bust earlier this year (just after I'd made a rude post about them in this Forum - voodoo magic!).

Shopping online I have (again, so far) had reliable, efficient and friendly sevice from SoundsLive in Newcastle. And at present their prices seem to be in line with the best of the competition. Of course, all things can change...

Cheers - C

PS I trust Brad will be invoking several of the previous posts on this thread next time he has a pay review? Just think how much in extra sales the enthusiasm generated by these Forums must have already produced...

This post seems quite active so rather than making a new one that just fills up more space i thought i'd ask here.

What was everyone's first Strat? What colour, or pickups maybe? Any info you feel like sharing.

Mine obviously (will be) the strat deluxe that i ordered, providing it arrives.

edit: Thanks for all your responses!

Questions for those that have recently bought the American Deluxe Strat;

What case came with your guitar?
Was it the small molded plastic case that is shaped like a guitar on the side where the latches are?
Or was it some other molded plastic case? If so what's it like?
Or something else entirely?

I'm curious because I read one new review on this guitar that indicated he got some kind of nice rectangular case with his. And not as a separate purchase, but included in the same box.

If Fender is finally shipping this guitar with a good case, I'm thinking seriously of buying one. I hate to return things, but I would if it came in that little case I described above.

Oh .... and please excuse my manners!
A big congratulations on those that have the Fender American Deluxe Strat!

I have one of the Strat Plus Deluxe guitars from years ago. I also had a Tele Deluxe from the year they put three vintage noiseless pickups in them. (wish I still had that guitar) And I know from those, that the Deluxe series from Fender is a great playing guitar. You'll love the guitar.

And those I bought came with a nice tolex covered rectangular case, as a DELUXE guitar should come with.

(cut due to post below)

I bought my American Deluxe back in February. I got the smaller case, that's shaped like a guitar. I've seen the new cases and I love them. But not enough to go out and buy one (for a lot of money), as the case I have does the job just fine. Good to hear they replaced it with the new case that comes with the Standard. The new case also has a lot more room to store accessories in the case.

Hi I'm new here, I thought i'd create an account seeing as i get my new American Strat Deluxe (3 tone sunburst, maple neck) next week! I know this has been discussed before a thousand times but what do you all think about the SCN pickups?

I love the SCN pickups and the S-1 switching. I get tons of new sounds that I never got from my other strat. But......from reading about that in here, there are people who don't like them. So it's a matter of taste.

It's a mix of feelings. Some people like them.....some don't. More of a personal taste thingie, than a quality issue.

I've been very happy with my Deluxe and it's my favorite of my guitars.

I'm sure you'll love it. I did, when I got mine. I just sat there and looked at it for a while. Then later played it and it felt so much better than my other guitars.

I have the American Deluxe, and I love the SCN's. The S-1 switching produces all kinds of sounds.

But......some people don't seem to like it. It's all a personal thing I would guess.

It finally arrived i'm so pleased with it! To all that still are unsure about the SCN's, don't be! They are just so good and most certainly stratty. My favourite S1 position is definately the one with all 3 pickups at once (middle position), it gives such a nice SRV tone! The feel of the guitar is second to none and it's simply beautiful!. It came with the shaped case which i've now come to prefer (not just because i own it!), i need to carry it to college and the smaller size of the case as well as the lower weight is perfect. I love the hidden compartment inside the case behind the neck of the guitar for accessories! I will post a picture soon!!!

I would have to agree with you. One of the big things I noticed when I first got it, was it's feel. It's the best feeling guitar of the ones I own. And I just love all the sounds you can get out of it with the S-1 Switching. It even sounds good with my inexpensive practice amp. Put it on my Hot Rod Deluxe, and the sound blows me away.

Good to hear that you are so pleased with it. I liked the SCN's in the '07 model I played.

That's good to know. Makes it easier for me to not buy one.
Thanks for the info! :D
