Anyone know if the current case is like one of these two?
The case that I have called the small case
http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0996101106

The case design shown above is similar to what was supplied with the Strat Plus's over 10 years ago, but I believe the older case was of better quality than what I have seen currently. It mimics the original case design for the '54 Stratocaster when first issued. I have one of these Plus cases over 10 years now. I believe they were subcontracted by SBC and I have been rathere satisfied with them for general use. I take my Strats out of doors in that case when I need a compact fit somewhere. Flew it to Florida once about 10 years ago.

My issue with cases is that Fender should be supplying its high end guitars in the same kind of rectangular fitted cases that PRS supplies. PRS has run circles around Fender for years in this deparment and I believe that G&G builds those cases for PRS.

The new case for the Gilmour is very impressive from the photo, but I judge it not to have the same interior design as what I refer to above. That is unfortunate for a $4K instrument. Fender could learn something here. :?

Doc, you are absolutely right. Fender ought to supply a lot better cases for its higher end guitars :?

Hey, F: your own Gilmour must be arriving sometime soon, is that right? I trust we'll get some pics, with associated case and candy?

Cheers - C

Look back over more recent pages of posts on the Stratocaster Forum for BSS's thread about his new Am Deluxe HSS. A very beautiful guitar and some quality photos of it.

Mind you, we digressed a lot on that thread - but it was all good clean fun...

Welcome to the Forums

Cheers - C

That's one of the things I really like about this Fender forum. Nice folks, Knowledgeable people and helpful people all at the same time. And on top of all that, not real sticklers for staying exactly by the letter of the law - some flexibility. All VERY good in my view.

I'd have to say - Brad you have done a great job with this! Hope you keep up the good work an don't get frustrated with us. And thanks to Fender for letting him do it.

to all of you newest arrivals - I believe that everyone here welcomes you with open arms. Everyone has been great to me.

My vote to every word of that, especially the bit about Brad. On a couple of things I've had communications with him backstage, so to speak - I think we often don't realise quite how much work and commitment he puts in on this whole Forum project. We are extremely well looked after - and give our loyalty back to the Company in return. A most virtuous circle.

And yes, all new members are very welcome indeed!

I couldn't agree more, with regard to Brad. The guy puts an awful lot in to the running of this site, I had no idea. Like you Ceri, I've had a few dealings with him, tee shirts etc. A real stand up guy, he should be very proud of this site. As should Fender, and all the members here :)

I'm very proud of Fender, Brad, and to be a member of the best(IMHO) forum on the web!! :)

Arrrghh! I seriously regret buying my Strat from dolphinmusic.co.uk but due to the price i had no choice. I placed the order on the 26/08 and they gave me an expected delivery date of the 16th of September, it's now the 24th and they didn't bother letting me know abotu delays but i noticed it wasn't updating on the site so i rang them on monday.

They said they should get stock tuesday. So i ring tuesday , "we are just unpacking all the orders from fender so we can't see if its your yet, call tomorrow". So today i ring, nope not in stock and i get the response "We are expecting an order from Fender an day now". Oh wow thanks for the specifics, I don't mean to be unreasonable and i realise it's not in their hands but their attitude isn't exactly professional.

Please feel free to correct me if i'm wrong anyone?
Also sorry about the rant, i know it won't interest many of you but i have a suspicion that all of you know what it feels like to wait for a guitar!

That's Ok man. I think we all understand what you're feeling.
I hope they get it in real soon for you.

Shipping seems to be even more "iffy" now days, not to mention more costly to boot.

Just my thoughts.

Good Luck and God Bless

So, I'm hoping that by then that this "wanting" for one will be gone, or at least subsided to the point that I can say "NO" if everything isn't just the way I want it. .........

I'm so lucky. Or blessed. (take your pick) :D

I kept waiting for something definite about the case issue until ......
Now, the wanting is gone. (Whew! snuck by that one - or dodged the bullet)

I never did find out anything either way. But as of the last couple of days, I can say to heck with it. (the cleaned up version ;) )
I can now easily do without buying another guitar, ... now.

That saves my family and me some very serious cash (it would have been a VERY major purchase for us)

Fender probably couldn't care less one way or the other. It's only one measly little guitar for their huge company. They wouldn't feel it one way or the other.

Even the wife is saying ... Happy days are here again.

For you folks that have one (or will get one soon) I hope you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed the various Fender guitars i have bought over the years.

Best of luck and God Bless :)
