Hello, first post here,
just bought my first strat, dont have a clue as to whether its a standard or deluxe, I was not listening to the salesman, I was playing the thing, unplugged and thinking, yeah that rings nice and trying to get the thing to choke with extreme bending up the neck, it never did. It was reduced in price because it was the last 07 in the shop, whatever that means, I thought as long as its got ‘usa’ on the headstock, got single coils, no fancy electrics, bells, whistles, push pulls, just a bloody strat please !!!
you'll do for me. I've stuck a plastic block in the trem cos I never use it, It's one of those screw corner fixing thingys for cheap chipboard cabinets, fits like a glove !! Mind you it knocked the intonation 40 miles out of kilter but I sharp put that right. One thing I did notice is the extra fret, not that I’m complaining but whats that all about !!
I play it thru a hot rod, it sounds beautiful, plays like a dream, no issues whatsoever, I can't put the thing down, my finger ends are down to the bone !! both hands, I'm a fingerpicker !! One of my other guitars, a les paul flame top job, has been relegated and has not been out of it's case since I got this strat, oh dear !! All I can say is well done Fender, I'm converted. FRANK

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new guitar.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "extra fret."? Some have 21 and others have 22 frets. I have heard of some "special runs" with a zero fret though.

Welcome Frank!!
:D :D :D :D :D
Greetings from across the pond.
It sounds like you have a pretty sweet strat.
The only thing I would change is the block to wood.
It will give you more resonance&sustain and won't flex.
Congrats!! 8)

Welcome to the forum. When you do get that other guitar out of the case again it will feel good in your hands, but only in a different way. Your first pick will likly always be the Strat. Thats the way it is with me and my SG. I dont play it as often, but when I get it out and it feels good, but different.

Thanks for the welcome gents, I took some of your advice and replaced the plastic block with a wooden piece I cut, put 10's on and oiled the board.
thanks again- FRANK
