just wondering was everyone's preference is...I always played a C-Neck and I tried an American Deluxe V-Neck. I was amazed how much more comfortable it felt...just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same or opposite

Howdy hamms30, I have had the exact same experience.

My next guitar will have a V-Neck with Rosewood fingerboard...

I don't like it (v-neck). That is just my preference, though. Personally, I think Fender has nailed it perfectly with the "modern C-shape".

I have a v neck strat and I think it's way better than a c neck. However, I really think depends on the kind of hands you have. If you have small to medium hands or stubby fingers, then you'll probably like the v neck. I have medium hands so it's easy for my hand grasp the entire neck. I also find it easier to bend notes and use my thumb to fret on top since there is less wood in those areas. The only downside with using a v neck is doing bar chords, that's with some people but I don't have that problem.

I for one like the modern C neck better just for the reason of being able to play bar chords easier. I'm more of a rhythm player than lead anyway.

I play rhythm and lead, in different styles, and need my neck to fit me like a glove. The modern C is also my favorite easily. It feels perfect to me. I pick it up and I'm home. Just the right thickness, radius, width, etc.

Modern C neck, I think it just feels better, but I've heard good things about the V neck.

I'm a modern c-shape guy myself. But we all have our own personal preferences.

I've always played a C, but I inherited my grandpa's '40s era Gibson L-50 archtop acoustic (forgive me Fender!), and it has a V neck. I'ts pretty old, and I haven't played it much. I can't say it really bothered me any, but it wasn't like "this is better." It was more like "Oh! THIS is a V-neck!"

Anyone have experienced going back and forth with pros & cons?

I thought I'd conclusively settled into the C neck as the ideal for my (smallish) hands and, ultimately, it probably is.

But, in part influenced by comments from much respected people on this Forum, I finally thought I'd give V necks a second chance. And now I'm enjoying the feel of a 50s V a lot. Coupled with a vintage set up Strat I have the notion it is freshening up my playing.

And I am also further appreciating the faster feel of my C necks when I get back on those. So having both is renewing the education of my hands - we never stop learning!

Cheers - C

I'm not really too fussy, but I use C shape necks.

Mine is a "modern C" neck. I like the way it feels.

I like the v but I'm wondering if I liked it because it was different and I have gotten rid of a guitar, before, simply because of the feel of the neck so I'll stick with the C.. I love the neck on my strat
