Hi,
So I am the proud owner of a 2000 American Stratocaster Deluxe, but sadly my current amplifier does it no justice. Any suggestions on what amp would be best in making this guitar roar. I am mainly a texas blues rocker. Thanks for the help!
Peace

First a few questions for you! :D
What price range do you plan to spend?
And how loud (or quiet) do you need?
Also are you after the real Tube sound or will solid state do?

looking to spend anywhere from 300-800 depending on how good the amp is of course. And I was thinking anywhere from 150-250 watts. and don't really have a specification on the tube.

Unless you are playing stadiums I can't see the need for so much power. You won;t get the amp to break up at a reasonable volume which is really what you want for blues and blues-rock. I have a 40 watt Marshall combo and I'm overpowered for most local clubs. I also have a 135 watt Fender Twin Reverb but I can't turn it up loud enough to make it sing without waitresses hating me.

For Blues Rock try a Marshall, a Boogie, a Fender Deluxe Reverb, '65 Super Reverb, '59 Bassman LTD, or maybe a '64 Vibroverb Custom.

I fear that none of those are in the price range he mentioned. A Peavey Classic 30 might be a good choice. The Fender Hot Rod Deluxe would also seem to be a logical choice, but then it doesn't seem to be that great an amp, both sound- and quality-wise.
I'd suggest testing a few amps and buying what you like best.

I played a Hot Rod Blues Jr. NOS 12 inch Jenson speaker the other day, and was pretty much blown away. Why in the hell did that guy at GC hand me a strat and plug me into that bad boy. I was fine with my Twin Reverb.

Tweed covering too, fantastic.
It sounded really good, and at 15 watts, you would think it weak. Believe me, it filled the entire store quite nicely. Oh yeah, it was around $550, but you could possibly find it for cheaper. I heard the non-Jenson speaker (non-NOS) version of this amp is not as good though. Good luck with your search.

Ya, the Blues Deluxe reissue (40 watts) and Blues Deville reissue (60 watts) or the
HotRod Deluxe and HotRod Deville (same amps different voicings) are tube amps in your price range.

The Deluxe runs 700$ and the Deville runs around 900$.

They get very loud, even the Blues Junior at 15 watts is sometimes to loud for many home playing situations. Tube powered amps seem to sound much louder than similar wattage solid states for some reason I never understood.

Good old youtube has many clips of people demoing these different amps.
Here is a list for the Fender Blues Deluxe (The amp I ended up with after many years of getting by not being pleased with the sound from my solid states)

And the fellow from http://steviesnacks.com has many demos of the blues junior on youtube too

You can also find Crate V series all tube Class A amps for incredible little cash lately.
V33-212 (33 watts 2 12 inch speakers) is under 260$ and the V50-112 was under 300$ last time I visited the music shop

Just Big and Loud huh? No other qualities? What type of music do you play, that will make a difference in what kind of amp to buy. Good luck!

Pro Reverb reissue, Twin Reverb reissue, or Vibroverb reissue are nice amps. Also the D-GEC 30 watters are nice and in your range if you want to practice with a whole band behind you.

 I may have to plan a little cross border trip, that is a lot less than they go for here. :!:

outside of a secondhand 50watt marshall head you could struggle. the 800's a great rock amp but lower its gain for blues, i use tungsol's in mine for that reason, or get a jmp for blues but you could struggle for rock tones and need hotter preamp valves.
50watt amps move from class a to class b quicker than 100 watters, where a 100watt will usualy go into class b at around 4.5-5.5 a 50watt does it around 3-4 on the volume control.

If a valve amp isn't a necessity what about a fender cybertwin, read some great things about them and fender amps always seem way louder than their given wattage. Ive a 5 watt vibrochamp xd that sounds more like 20 watts.
when i'm gigging i swear by solidstate amps the reliability and durability of em is topnotch just what you need for quick on and off stage appearances.

heres a good read on valve amp powersection classifications http://www.sheldonamps.com/classD.htm

Dude if you haven't tried one yet, check out the Carvin 2X12 Bel Air. 50 watts of real quality. I own one and couldn't be happier with it. I have the 2X12 cab to go with it and WOW. You really get more than you pay for.
