Hi fellows! I'm from Brazil and here there's some f... guys selling lots of false Fender Stratocaster guitar, I'm trying to buy my first one and I'm just a little worried about this. I don't have enough cash to take an new guitar, or one american Fender, so I'm looking for an mexican or japanese stratocaster.

My objective here is spread this to everybody, maybe someone can do something, I don't know, to punish, that's crime right?

Sorry about the bad english, is all I have!

Well, lot's of companys make copys of Strats. It can be hard to determine if it is the real deal or not. Check the serial number, or order off of a major online retailer. Good luck.

Where are these false Fender's sold? In music stores or by individuals through advertisements?

What is the quality like? Are they clearly fakes, so that a beginner familiar with the models found on this Fender.com site can identify them, or are they likely to fool even an expert?

If the headstock is different than that of an actual Fender Stratocaster, then its totally legal for that dealer to sell that Stratocaster-copy.

Although, I would say your local Fender dealer could help you find the right guitar.

I'm not sure if this will help you much, but its the best I could find on Fender Dealers in Latin America.

You're right, the company is the Giannini, a Fender's partner in Brazil during the 90's, the guitar received the name Fender Southern Cross, was an good guitar. Today is a little hard to find this one.

Actually in my city, in everywhere, particular dealers, some stores of used instruments, searching here: www.mercadolivre.com.br you'll find some fake guitars, they're putting in the headstock an Fender's logo and a legal serial copy, but is not a perfect fake. If we look with atention we can percept the diferences, like the shape of headstock and body.

Thanks for the advice, here we can identify the guitar's "age" using the serial number and the country of origin:

I just don't know if I can trust in this site...

Thanks for the help, I'll try to make contact with the Pride Music, responsable for the importation of Fender's products in South American

Ah sim, a Lismusica.
