As we all know it is nice to have different guitars for different kinds of music. For songs with more heavy whammy in them I decided to go to a Standard floyd rose HSS Strat. I had a hard time finding one in general (especially the color I want) at my local stores, so I ordered from Musicians Friend. My order confirmation said that it was in stock and ready to ship. Two days later I get an email that says it wont ship for almost 4 months! Just a FYI, or buyer beware. I am looking for one that is artic white. I am going to keep looking at my local stores, maybe I will get lucky and find one then cancel my order.

Its a shame you live in Florida, there's a store up near where I live in a town called Dexter that has over 700+ guitars in stock, some of those including Fenders. I've seen a HSS with a FR bridge up there too.

But good luck trying to find one. It may be a month-and-a-half before I get a Highway One HSS Strat for my birthday! :D

So happy next-few-months for both of us, right? :D

Paint takes a few months to cure completely, which accounts for 2 of those months... so no worries :)

Good news, my Strat made the mid month batch and I recieved an email that says I should get it on Thursday. Artic white, hss, Floyd Rose, rosewood board, man I cant wait to jam on this thing! I have heard the the Mexican pick ups may need swapped out for better ones though, no big deal. Is this true? Does anyone agree?

for the amount it takes, its definitely worth it. 3 new good quality pickups will set you back 200 bucks, more or less, but will make your guitar sound unbelievable. Ive said it on here before, and I hate to sound like a broken record, but my MIM standard sounds better than my friends top of the line gibson LP, a model I thought costs 1800 bucks, but in fact costs more than 2k. So yeah, definitely worth it! mod that MIM in a few other ways and that axe will scream.

I won't touch the stock pickups on my (MIM) Strat because it has the Alnicos rather than the ceramic pickups that are on just the Standard (MIM)s. Mine's a 70's reissue and I won't change the stock pickups in that to defeat the authenticity of the reissue. That's why it's called a reissue.

I did finally get it and I seriously love this guitar. It needed alot of adjustments to the claw to set the balance of the floyd, pick up heights, action, and some other screws were just not very tight but after going all over it I am really, really pleased. I am not dissapointed with the stock pick ups either. I have a big gig this weekend I plan for it to be my main guitar. :D

I've always had good luck buying guitars from musician's friend. When it's said, "in stock", I usually get the guitar within five days (shipping time). Are you sure it's not a back ordered order? Or maybe it was in stock, and someone else just beat you out for the last one in stock and it got back ordered. They have a customer service phone number on the site. Give them a call and ask them. They're usually good about that.
