I was thinking of putting this in my guitar ( American deluxe strat) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0262635198 .. EMG 85 with two SA single coils.. I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a spot to put the nine volt battery in the strat?

put it in the trem cavity where the springs are. You need to extend the negative polarity wire, but you can just twist the extension onto it and tape it up. I tinned mine with some solder for extra strength but its not neccessary.

That looks a great pickup set, the extra bass of the 85 will sound ace in the bridge. The 85 is the highest output Emg and a bit more organic sounding than the 81/89. Get it and enjoy it mate.
To make battery installation easy.
1 take the wires off the battery terminal end, not the pickguard.
2 remove a trem sping or two.
3 feed the wires through the hole where your earth wire goes.
4 re-solder the wires to the battery terminals and recover the end of the terminal. plug your battery into it and away you go.

quite easy :D

Nice grab... I am considering building a project Strat with that EMG setup.

I have a '72 RI Stratocaster with a set of EMG SA pickups, and have the battery tucked into the control cavity between the tone knob and the output jack. It just barely fits, but does. I also have a 1990 HM Strat with the HSS set-up of EMGs like you mentioned. The battery is again in the control cavity. There is no need to locate it in the tremelp cavity if you don't choose to. The EMGs are a great product, and don't get the props they should as a top notch sounding set up.

putting it in the trem cavity makes changing easier, although you get 1800 hours out of a new battery. If you do put it in the cavity insulate the pcb board on the bottom tone control, you dont want to damage or short it out. Ive emgs 81/85 in a jackson i own and the battery is in the control cavity but its a very different shape to a strats cavity and theres no pcb in it either.

either way they are great pickups for high gain stuff. probably the best on the market in that genre.

It you put the battery in the trem cavity, won't that get in the way and jam up the tremelo when you try to whammy?
