I have a Bud Dry Stratocaster. Someone told me that these were made in the custom shop.

However, the guitar does not have a custom shop emblem or decal.

If it was made in the custom shop, then how do I get a letter of authenticity?

Thanks, Jon

I can't find a single reference anywhere that a Bud Dry strat was ever made. That doesn't mean it wasn't, just that it's pretty obscure. I would think if it was a Custom Shop axe, there would be some reference to it out there in cyberland.

You're gonna have to call Fender on this one, if no one else here has an answer for ya.

I had done some preliminary research after finding this axe (back in the 1990's). There were 300 Budweiser strats, 150 Bud Lite strats and 150 Bud Dry strats made in 1989 for a promotion between Fender and Budweiser. The first thing that I noticed was the high quailty of craftsmanship on this guitar. I asked about it at the local GC and was told that these were made in fender's custom shop. I sent a letter to fender, but never received a reply.

I can not find any references by googling this guitar.

Thanks, Jon

Yes & no. Pre CS
These were mostly HM Strat's for promotional purposes.
I've owned 3. One Weiser & 2 Dry's & still have one. Was made into a hardtail and now will have custom full size body fit to the neck.
I can't stand the square Tele style body for a Strat. That's why I have a Telecaster.
