I have a couple of what are probably embarrassingly simple questions, but ya never know until ya ask.

I have a MIM Fat Strat, Olympic White, White pickguard and knobs. I've decided to make it a little more visually interesting, and swap out the white knobs, etc., for black.

Now, I've never been under the hood, so to speak, and before I muck everything up, I thought I'd ask y'all what would be involved in changing the pup covers. Is it just sliding off the old and sliding on the new? Or is there soldering involved (Image)?

Also, the humbucker...how difficult is it going to be to change that from white to black?

Or should I just hand everything over to the guys at West End Music and say, "Please do this for me."?

Measure the current pickup heights. Remove the pickguard, remove the mounting/adjustment screws for the pickups, lift off the cover, slide the new cover on, and put everything back together.

Thanks, Chet. I was hoping the answer was that simple.

But rest assured: I will find a way to screw it up somehow anyway. :P

u might take note of the distance between your pickups & strings before you take them off.
That way u can put the pickup height back to where they were before the swap out.
(the spacing between pickups & strings can effect sustain & tone)
