wouldnt it be nice if fender had a try if you like policy with pickups. Pay for your pickups, get em installed by a fender repair center, if after a week or 2 you dont like em, get a different set. after answering questions about what you did or didnt like about the ones you bought the rep could sort out what your after.

Nice to dream aint it.

But it would have to cost a FORTUNE for Fender not to lose money on it.

That is the truth, but it is an interesting concept.

Yeah it would cost, but the costs could very easily be tempered by good customer relations boosting profits. You cant realy get a decent idea of a pickups sound and capabilities from 15 minutes shop usage. Alot of people dont wire their own pickups and pay to have em fitted. It wouldnt be a unfeasable concept, fender would get a spot on idea of the consumer market, and the consumer's would be delighted. Of course it would have to be limited to one change per purchase. Thats the reason for the liason with the fitter/suplier. The only problem would be the logistics of profit in the already tried pickups.

That was the first thought that came to my mind.
It's like when u get stuff at walmart,
take it home & then realize this has been opened & returned twice already.

It does make me wonder if u were to make pickups that could be swaped out with out soldering them in.
Kinda like snapping in a battery on a laptop.

It may not work well, because it is putting jacks or that sorta thing in the signal chain inside the guitar.
But while we are dreaming why not?

Emg do the snap on connection thing, and the new seymour actives use the same connection too. if emg and seymour duncan whippersnappers that they are compared to fender can manage it why cant anyone else.

I'd have different pickups for every day. :D

Excellent idea. I don't think anyone likes the idea of buying something sight unseen that you haven't been able to hear yet. Speaking of which, has anyone here tried out any of the Lindy Fralin pups on their strat. I think they make both vintage 52's and 63's for the strat. I'd be interested in hearing someone's opinion on how they sound.

Im not gonna lie thats a good idea, but i own 2 fender strats, I loaded one of em up with dimarzio pafs and super distortion, same config as Dave Murray from Maiden, the other one I put some original Duncan JB Hotrails in and its amazing. I love the stock fender sound, but when you play metal it might not cut it. But I love the sound and in my eyes its the best sounding stock guitar.

UP THE IRONS!
