I'm counting the days, until I get the call to go pick mine up. I'm really looking forward to this guitar, doubt I will get the signed book though.

Do hope you find that it rises to your expectations. As far as the signed book goes....if not, contact Hal Leonard Publications and find out if Phil Taylor will sign books that are purchased elsewhere and forwarded for signature with return postage paid.

I will be making that inquiry for two copies I have ordered. One for myself and the other for the grandson of a friend who is a major PF'er.

Interesting observation. I've been 'singing that song' all through this forum nearly a year now.
Doc

Same here. All these threads on how to get so and so's tone. How do I make my guitar sound like so and so. Truth is you can get your favorite artist to let you use his rig and you'll sound like.....YOU! Gilmour could rerecord DSOM with a Les Paul and he'd sound like Dave. If there's one thing younger guitar players should get from this forum is that your tone is in your hands, not your gear. Your gear colors your tone. But it's still your tone. Your attack, your bending style, your vibrato style, your cadence, your particular melodic style...that's your tone. Gear won't change that. And frankly that's a good thing. Everyone should strive to have their own unique tone.

Thanks very much for the advice Doc, I'll give it a try if I don't get a book with my guitar.

I'm not sure I saw any jealousy there. The decent reviews came from beginners. The bad reviews came from players who thought the pups were weak and the paint peeled off too easy. I have no opinion on them myself, but I wouldn't say what I read was jealousy at all.

Like I said, I have no experience with em, but wow. If I paid out $25K for a Masterbuilt strat, that thing better have the most beautiful, crystal clear pups and the paint better not start flaking in under a few months. I'd send it back for a full refund. I certainly wouldn't take a rag to it and just remove the custom paint job and suck up the loss.
