This isn't a HM strat, but a model called "The Strat" (introduced at 1980 NAMM). These were manufactured from 1980-1983.
..It's looked upon as a customized and souped-up variation of the Stratocaster.

Here's a whole page of info on this model, and pics of other "specimens".

Hello Mr. Sandwich.
I don't believe you scrolled down far enough. The first guitar you see is definitely a 1980 "Strat" aka "X-1 Strat"

If you would be so kind as to revisit the thread and scroll all the way down as well as through the next page, you may find some other "Eye-Candy" that you might enjoy, as well as my HM Strat, which is also there.
Thank you for the link to the X-1 info, I will be reading through all of that just in the event there might be something that was'nt published in all the books I have on Stratocaster history. I'm always looking for additional info on anything I own.

Thank you, Those guitars both came with gold hardware, sort of...I'll explain:

The Surf Green Strat, which is a custom model (flame maple neck, clay dots, and Texas Specials) Serial# CV58884 came with the aged gold hardware.
This is a 1999 model guitar at least that is what I was told by the sales clerk.

The Red guitar, is the 1980 "Strat" or "X-1 Strat" as it was sometimes called back then because of the X-1 Bridge pickup. This guitar came with mostly gold hardware from the factory. I say 'mostly' because this guitar had gold hardware all over the body, except for the tremolo bar. this was chrome with a brass tip on it. When I bought this guitar (for $300) the threads of the tremolo bar were snapped off int the tremolo's inertia block. I tapped that out of there and got a gold replacement bar instead of a chrome one. This guitar also came with the Fender/Schaller chrome tuners and stock chrome string trees on the headstock. This really looked out of place to me with all the gold hardware on the body, so I replaced the tuners with an early set of mirror finish gold Sperzel locking tuners, and gold Fender Ezy-glide string trees. Unfortunately, when I replace the original brass nut which was mutilated beyond any hope of salvaging, the LSR roller nuts have never been available in gold. That would have just been the icing on the cake!
This guitar weighs a TON, but with the special electronics wiring that it came with, this guitar will get sounds that I could'nt get with any other Stratocaster, this is why I call this one: "The Stratocaster with an attitude!"

By the way Gang,

I did get around to pulling my inventory of old Fender tube amps out of the storage room and I'm in the process of cleaning them up and getting them going again. I'll be posting some pics of these amps soon.
One thing I've been having fun doing is A/B-ing between the ADA and Fender amps and comparing tones. Amazing how these old tube amps can still scream with the best of them!

You dont need to tell me mate, i've a 59 watkins that screams and screams when its flat out. Nothing more than a volume and tone control wired to a 10" elac speaker. who said only good speakers sound good. :D

I hear you loud and clear! In addition to my Fender amps, I have an oddball tube amp that I picked up about 14 years ago at a yard sale. I believe it's only 25 watts and made in the early 60's. It's a Hilgen Victor Model R2522, that has a Volume, Tone, Tremolo (On/Off, Speed-no depth), and a Reverb Depth, all wired to a 12" CTS speaker. There is'nt much information about the company, but that amp will overdrive very sweetly for Rock and Blues, and still rattle my windows.
Then again, so will my 12 watt 1970 Princeton Reverb

Hi Gang,

It looks like I won't be looking at a Highway One or any other Strat for a while now.
Today, I got an email from an EXTREMELY cool young man who contacted me to return my stolen '57 RI that has been missing for over ten years now.
I just got back home with my soul's counterpart, and I have a lot to do to here to get her back where she is suppoed to be, and restore her to her former glory.
S/N V005309 is home again! WOOT WOOT!!!

The young man, who's name is withheld as a courtesy, has just generated an enormous amount of Good Kharma, and his Kharma will come back to him.

Wow! Please tell us more about that story. Was it stolen 10 yrs ago by that guy? Where has it been? Is it in good shape?

Hey OrvilleOwner,

No, the young man who contacted me did not steal it, neither did his late father, from whom he inherited the guitar. The young man told me his father bought that guitar from a friend of his' kid, no name given, in 1999.
At the time, I was working two jobs full time, and while I was at work on June 10th, 1998, my house was broken into, and this guitar, the case, four wedge monitor cabs, and my Denon Home stereo were stolen. The man who contacted me found out the guitar was stolen here at this forum when he logged in to try to determine when this guitar was made from the S/N. Somehow, he stumbled across one of my posts where I was talking about this guitar and how it held up with the mods I did to it. After he played this guitar and heard her sing, he had a hunch that I would be wanting her back, and he was correct. He managed to get my email, and sent me a message posting my S/N in the header.
At first, I thought it was a gag, but how could anyone know the S/N? I almost fell out of the chair! He posted a message for me there, describing the guitar, and it's condition, and left a phone number. I called him as soon as I read it. I described the mods I did to it, and told him how it was the all-time favorite guitar that I had ever owned. This is the one I've been trying to produce again from the Strats that I've been able to find, but to no avail.
One of the reasons she sings so sweetly, is because she has authentic 1961 Stratocaster pickups in her. That was one of the mods I did to her.
After we talked, we made arrangements for me to meet him. I went up to Cleveland, met him, and once again, my baby was in my hands. Her condition is rather remarkable considering how much she was sorely abused. She has many battle scars and is in need to a lot of TLC, but I'm going to have her put back the way she was meant to be, and she'll be recording with me on the forthcoming solo album., and possibly some of the Band Of Heathens remasters, since she was on the original recordings.
After over ten years MIA, she's back home.
When I was about to leave to go meet this man, I asked him how much I would owe him. He would'nt accept payment He asked for nothing, but he is due something very special and near and dear to me, but I believe that this will be a good return on the Good Kharma that has come my way tonight.

There you have it, I'll be taking some pics of her in her present state, then again after her restoration. I've never poured heart and soul into a guitar like I have with this one before. She was distraught when I first got her, and made her a thing of beauty, she will be that way again.

He found out from one of my posts here. He also found out that I'm a member at the ADA Forum, and posted a message in my introductory thread there. I had the S/N posted in a few places here, but I believe I just mention the stolen guitar last week in one of the threads about either the LSR nut, or Locking Tuners.
