I have a new Deluxe Strat and for some reason the low E string makes a buzzing noise when played. According to the manual the action and string height is good. What am I missing? I should add that if i place my finger on the nut or bridge where the string goes over it seems to go away.

Welcome to the Forum.

The Manual is a guide, many guitars do not have a perfect setup using the exact numbers in the manual. Some adjustments may have to be made, or it could be another problem.
I would take it to a Tech and have it checked out.

Thanks for the excellent advise, I'm sure that is the correct thing to do. Though I had hoped someone else may have dealt with this issue, and had some ideas on what to check. This is my first new Fender, I usually play Gibson, and I'm a bit disappointed.

Being a little experienced with setups on Fender guitars the first thing I would do is raise the saddle for that string to see if it goes away.

Chet on a similar note, im getting alot of attack buzz when i hit a string on my guitar with vintage noiseless pickups installed. The action of the guitar doesnt diminish it, neither does pickup height. Theres ample relief in the neck and ive tried it with the neck straight too. The guitar doesnt fret buzz acousticly. Im going to put the stock pickups back in tonight, if that doesnt work you got any idea's?

That sounds like a wiring issue. Maybe a cold solder.

I had the same problem with my low e. All you need to do is take out the string, stretch it and restring it. That's all i did, and the buzzing at the saddle went away.

Hope it works for you.

Check the two saddle hieght adjustment screws on the low E string, make sure both of them are making solid contact with the bridge plate. If they aren't one will rattle when the string is plucked.

I tried that and it did change it at all.

Probably the nut then. Have it checked.

Not as an expert, but I noticed that when I used a new brand of strings, I got a lot more buzz/play in the strings, particularly the low ones, compared to the ones I was using. Everything stayed in tune and all just fine, the strings just seem to have more amplitude to the vibration compared to the last ones. I'm going to switch back on the next string change.
