I only ask because I've had one for several years. I sat down in a Media Play store and was impressed by the display model. They wouldn't sell it to me, though. None of the others were unboxed. It took a look through several boxes but I found one in need of minor neck adjustment. For $69 after a $20 sale and $10 in incentive dollars from Media Play, the guitar is pretty impressive.

I'm tempted to upgrade the electronics as noise is the only issue I've encountered. Tuning is rock stable (as it should be, being a hard tail) and it plays well.

Anyway, Media Play went Chapter 7 bankrupt and they liquidated everything. Eventually these guitars were 40% off... $59 each! I should've grabbed a few more. Could've de-fretted one or done some wild modifications with little lost investment if the experiment went sour. ;)

Anyway, I just wondered how many Fender afficianados have even considered picking one up? It likely won't speak to you like that $1500-$2000 American made beauty you've either been eye-ing or already bought, but they make for a great guitar to kick around in circumstances where you'd rather be guitar-less than risk your prized instrument. At a bit over $100 most places they're still a steal, provided you're comfortable performing minor adjustments yourself or willing to pay the $35 - $50 premium for a professional setup. :thu:

Malaysian built? Are you sure? I didn't think there were any guitar factories here, not since Route 66 got stiffed by their local partner and pulled out.

Definitely Malaysian, but remember, Media Play went under a year and a half ago and I bought mine a year or two before that. The words "made in Malaysia" are printed on the back of the headstock.

They were only available in a dark blue opaque finish at Media Play, but I think were marketed in one or two other colors through other retailers.
